A Vermont School
The yard sale is critical social glue in many rural areas. For this work, created during a residency with artists in Vermont, yard sale materials were the pallet, the surrounding woodlands the canvas. Seventeen fish were drawn with strips of bed sheets by looping the fabric over leafless lower branches. They follow the channel of a dry riverbed for seventy-five yards. About twenty yards to one side and parallel to the installation is an active stream burbeling through the air, while breezes passing through the wood cause the fish to swim.
